Dear Friend,
In the first part of this series, we stated that there are several
keys that we must work in order to advance in the kingdom of God.
We must have FOCUS, POSITIONING and PACE. I would like to
discuss PACE, thirdly.
I will stand my watch And set myself
on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what
I will answer when I am corrected. {2} Then the LORD answered me
and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it. Habakkuk 2:1-2
Notice here that the latter part of verse two says to write the
vision and make it plain. The vision of God is plain or simple.
When it is conveyed so that others can catch it, they will then
begin to strive to achieve it. In achieving a goal of any type,
steps must be taken in reaching for it's fulfillment. They must be
strategic steps that bring about the desired results.
But the path
of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto
the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18
Until the
time of fulfillment, the process is progressive. God is
progressive. We can see in the creation that he planned out what
He would do. Then He went through the successive steps from the
first day until the day of rest. He set the pace.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed
about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every
weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run
with patience the race that is set before us, {2} Looking unto
Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that
was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is
set down at the right hand of the throne of God. {3} For consider
him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself,
lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Hebrews 12:1-3
In Scripture, we find that not only does our Lord serve as our
example, but He also sets the pace for us. The pace is
patience. Patience is a peaceful continuing endurance. It's with
faith and patience that promises are obtained (Hebrews 6:12). We
must continue at the right pace. To do otherwise, would be to go
forward in assumption.
Without patience, faith is inadequate. Patience sees the end
result before the first step is taken. It remains
consistently the same regardless of what comes or goes. We are
running a marathon. Sprinters do not run with pace, long
distance runners do!
And let us not
grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we
do not lose heart. Galatians 6:9
