Dear Friend,
I have heard many times that this is the year for Josephs. This is the
year that God was going to bring His Josephs out of prison into
Pharaoh’s courts. Many of us are dreamers with a dream still hidden away
inside of us.
I love the story of Joseph because I can relate to him in many ways.
First, I am a dreamer. Second, I have yet to see it all come into place
while I wrestle with the “where” and “when” and “what” I have gone
through on the way. Today, my friend, I am here to declare to you that
it’s time to live the dream!
You may say that you’re not sure what you are supposed to do for the
Lord. Trying to figure that one out may even have you frustrated. You
may think that you have nothing to offer. If the truth were to be known,
it’s not what you can do, but it’s who you have become. It’s who you
belong to that is the difference. When we know that we are His and it’s
Him that we serve in all things, it opens the door to greater
understanding. (Colossians 3:23-24)
Joseph was in the midst of God’s divine plan for his life when he
started dreaming. It was the key for his life. His dreams immediately
kicked the process of God into play. Psalms 105:17 says that God sent
Joseph before the nation of Israel. He was sent to his destiny through
slavery going from the pit, to Potiphar’s, to the prison and finally to
the palace of Pharaoh. His scenery changed each time in one day. He made
the transitions. Are you making the transitions?
Let me show you one of the keys of Joseph’s promotion. Each change he
experienced was a promotion, though it does not always appear that way
to us. Times of increase often look like decrease. When we decrease, God
has the ability to bring increase to us! What made the difference for
him was the positioning of his heart. No matter where he was he lived
the dream!
Reading through his story in Genesis, we find that Joseph was falsely
accused of attempting to rape Potiphar’s wife. Though he was put in
prison unjustly, he did not stay there. We see Joseph serving others. He
continues in the same spirit that he served with before the accusation.
God prospered him and gave him favor. He could have become very bitter.
He had been sold as a slave by his family, lied about, forgotten about
for two years before being helped. While in the prison, during the
remaining time he was there, in spite of all that, he began to live the
dream.
Joseph was not a prisoner, he was a ruler. He ruled through his serving
no matter where he was or who he was around. He lived who he was. Two
years prior to leaving the prison, he is pleading his cause. On the day
of his appointment it was different. He shaves his head and face and
cleaned himself. He presented himself to the king as an Egyptian. Hebrew
men did not shave their beards as part of their custom. He adapted to
where he was without letting the environment change who he was. He was
better than all the magicians because of who he belonged to. He lived
the dream!
Life suddenly changes for him. He goes from prisoner to Prime Minister;
single to married; nameless in that society to being renamed; confined
to free to roam all of Egypt! If we can’t serve in our prison, we won’t
serve in the palace. Life can suddenly change for you too! Live the
dream! I am!
Until we meet again, we are...
